Looking At Me
02:13
|
|
||
The lightness of spring.
Weighs heavy on me.
Eyes are open,
But you just can’t see.
I’ve been looking at you
Looking at me.
That may be true
But as far as I can tell
You were squirming in your seat
Making eyes as well
Only looking at you
Because you were looking at me.
Two stories
Fail to sound like one
VAR says that
These two tales
Cannot be spun.
Pushed in my chair
And made my way outside
Doors are sliding
Her smile replied:
“No one's looking at you.
But thank you, for looking at me.”
Stood on the sidewalk,
“What have I done?”
Classic Seattle
Never stay: just run
If someones looking at you
Say “thank you” for looking for me

Got to get out of Jackson city
It’s time to go home
Been 7 days
In a rental on i55
It’s time to stop living alone
Don’t want to talk about how I got here
She sees Jim, but I see Roy
Saline drip
On a gurney, getting clean
Feel less a man, more like a boy
Involve my mind
You can reign over me
Not my type
We see you differently.
Flying back on the red-eye
Banking over the Sound
Taxi up to the concourse
Back on friendly
Familiar ground
No need to talk about how we got here
Now is now so don’t pretend
No need to wash away all the stories
Times were real but now at an end
No need to doubt yourself and the moments
Don’t erase everything that came to pass
No need to stop saying I love you
Even though the moments have passed.
Even though the moments have passed.

Is Only Now
03:22
|
|

Hit the stage with a bump in 1974.
Looked around and started to cry.
I’d love to say that I’ve grew up,
But that would be a lie.
Don’t remember being happy it was all a fog.
Drifting through my school years at sea
Lulworth Cove and The Beatles,
Is all that stayed with me.
I’m not complaining, about the past there is only now
But I look at my eldest and my history comes back to him somehow
Never the same moment- there just is only now
Your mileage will vary and how
Should I guide him when I fail everyday?
Just be empathetic for the choices I made
Ive only done this twice I’m afraid
Getting slightly better is all I can do
Now he looks at his children and just wonders why?
His old man didn’t get it at all
But soon he’ll nod in agreement
When his plans begin to fall

Victor Hugo
02:43
|
|

A dusty picture frame is hung on a similarly dusty wall
The image and the smiles have faded: means nothing to him at all.
Took out the picture and he threw it away
Lost in the moment then remembered today.
Victor Hugo you have won the war
no need for fighting for you anymore
the only foe you face now is the passing of time
Victor Hugo when you went to war
followed orders but you weren't too sure
that all you saw was worth all the lives on the line .
I hope we have a reason next time.

Sly Cough

Always wanted
But never had it
Social distancing is back in style
Have a reason
To be housebound
Can’t say that it’s a burden at all.
Clearing space
With a slyly dry cough
Never share a bus seat again
Toilet paper
Boarding the windows
Stop the neighbors from looking in.
Close the door
And hope what’s out there
Takes the hint and stays away
Really feeling
More connected
You and yours sharing a perfect day.
